To be a "champion" team, a team need tons of practice, training and be prepared for matches against any kind of team that could be on its way. Besides physical condition, practice and other kind of skills that players need to learn, every volleyball team needs to clearly know the volleyball positions, the responsibilities and the main role of each player within a match.
When it comes to volleyball, there are 5 positions:
1.The Setter: The setter is the player that is in charge of organizing the team's offensive. In football this player would be the quarterback. The setter decides the way how the team is going to attack, to who is the ball going and when. This player needs leadership to control the team and keep it organized and focused according to the game strategy. It is also the player that delivers passes to the hitters to score.
2.Outside Hitter: This is the player who is on the left front side of the court, the one who blocks and hits from there. It is an important spot because is one of the parts of the court where is more usual that the ball goes because of wrong passes. His responsibility is basically to work together with other hitters according with the setter's specifications.
3.Weakside Hitter: This player blocks and hits on the right side of the court and has almost the same role as the outside hitter, the difference is that the outside hitter is the primary attacker, except for that they have the same responsibilities.
4. Middle Hitter: This player position is on the middle side of the court and has as main role to block every shot and hit of the opponent team along with the other hitters, also is responsible for keep organized the front row of the team.
5.Libero: And the libero is the player with the main job of defense and passing. He is the player that can replace any back row player, which means he can get in to the match in exchange of a weak passer or to help to bring more protection. Usually they are call defensive specialist.
