The last year was a great competition between the number 12 ranked Penn State which were fighting for their third national tittle in this category, but they played the NCAA men's volleyball championship match against the top-ranked Stanford in front of 6,635 spectators on the Stanford's Maples Pavilion, this time the Cardinals won their second tittle joining their first one on 1997.
With this victory the Stanford's Cardinals became the second team that won the tournament in their own court since UCLA's team in 1996,but in other view the The Nittany Lions were not so disappointed for the lost of the tittle because their men's and women's volleyball teams combined have won four of the six last NCAA national championships.
