The volleyball category for under-ages is call junior volleyball, it's the same game just that is played most the time by kids but also teenagers between 5 to 14 years old approximately. The game is played all around the United States, their teams are usually call "club volleyball" and the principal organizing body it's the USA Volleyball, but specifically for this kind of category there's the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
Volleyball Clubs
The main idea of the volleyball clubs is the young students can learn to play and can develop their skills on this specifically club, with the purpose that they can play in high schools teams on the tournaments, and after that, the best or the most featured players are being prepared to play in college teams and because of they can work to get a scholarship.
The volleyball club season starts in late November until June where compete volleyball clubs for all the country, the teams usually played several tournaments on the season to establishing a ranking through several regions. This kind of volleyball clubs tournament is considered a preparation to the students to gain experience to play in a few years in high schools teams.
In this tournaments you can see couches from many high schools looking at the future players of their teams, also colleges couches see club players because it's too hard to see high school competitions because both are played almost at the same time, so they start from the bottom to see how they can recruit those players.
Junior Olympic Championships
The volleyball clubs compete to get a place to go to the annual Junior Olympic Championships (JOs) it's play between June and July, there's nine tournaments in the country to get an invitation to be able to participated into it, and it's a very good opportunity specially for the young players to show their skills in front of other places teams and have more opportunities to play in some other places.
